Art and Civic Grants

Get ready to dive into the excitement as SOAK kicks off its much-anticipated art and civic grant funding cycle (fka provisions)! Calling all creative minds and event enthusiasts – it's your chance to turn your wildest ideas into reality. There are two types of projects we fund, art and civic. Civic grants are generally smaller projects focused on community support (theme camp frontage, fuel for completed projects, etc.). Art grants assist PNW artists with materials for new & repaired art projects/installations. Grab the opportunity to make a splash and bring your SOAK projects to life with the support of Precipitation Northwest's vibrant grant program.

Which Grant Type is Right for Me?

Civic Grant example: The Tectonic volcano, when placed with Tectonic the Theme Camp, is an aesthetic structure made by humans that houses dancers, DJs, performances & fire poofs. The metal mountains support the camp's infrastructure, carry the camp's theme and, while the space is shared with Participants, it is generally a space that exists to house the camp's intent. The volcano is Art that directly relates to the camp. Tectonic is eligible for a civic grant

Art Grant example: If the volcano itself was placed independently, without the theme camp nearby, TAG (Talented and Gifted Peer Review) might consider it independent art. On its own, the volcano is not supporting the camp or scheduled for 100%-ish camp use but instead, is standing tall, lookin' pretty, & could be shared with the community to house workshops, events, & whoever comes to play with the art. In this way, the volcano could be eligible for an art grant.

*Please note, the volcano is art at all times. It is eligible for an art grant only when placed independently from the theme camp.
